Rice Socks are a simple and effective labor tool

How to make a rice sock:

Start with a clean, large tube sock

Fill sock with white rice

Add a few drops of good quality essential oils

Lavender and Bergamot are popular scents for labor but any oil you like can work!

Tie a knot in sock, do not sew the sock closed. You want to be able to untie the sock so you can ‘freshen up’ the oils and rice to use over and over again

Heat in microwave for 60 seconds, if using a microwave you are not familiar with such as at the hospital or birth center, start at 30 seconds and increase time as needed

Rice socks come in handy for postpartum use as well. You will use every muscle in your body during labor and applying heat with a nice scented oil can feel wonderful

Rice socks provide moist, warm heat to ease labor pain

They feel great on your back, under belly, on neck
